Camping & RV

When it comes to roughin' it, there's no better place to get away from it all

Ahhh, peace and quiet. There’s nothing like the great outdoors to get you out of the hustle and bustle of urban life. Wake up to the clean fresh air of a wilderness camp site or enjoy an evening around a crackling campfire. Whether you like to travel in an RV that provides the comforts of home or rough it by pitching a tent under the stars, Juneau is home to some of Alaska's finest and most beautiful spots.

Visitors coming by RV will need to bring their vehicle to Juneau via the Alaska Marine Highway System. Once here, stop inside the Auke Bay Ferry Terminal for information, including parking, RV & camping. There are several spectacular locations to park your rig or pitch your tent.

In the Juneau area, camping is allowed on undeveloped forest lands one-quarter mile off roads, lending an entirely new aspect to "camping Juneau." To assure compliance, check with the US Forest Service at (907) 586-8800. Also, off-road camping for a maximum of 48 hours is permitted on city land. For details, contact Juneau Park and Recreation at (907) 586-5226.
