Named for local businessman and volunteer fireman Bill Cope, Cope Park is a local recreation site. Cope was an avid supporter of youth athletics and through his work with the fire department was able to provide bleachers for the baseball field at the park. Gold Creek (where Auk Tlingit Indian Chief Kowee lead Joe Juneau and Richard Harris to gold) runs adjacent to Cope Park.
