| WELCOME TO THE JUNEAU TRAVEL NEWS - Spring 2004 |
What do salmon fishing and jazz have in common?
Beautiful music, of course! If you've ever heard the "zzzzzzzzzzzzzz" sound your fishing line makes when a feisty spring king hits the bait, you know what I'm talking about.
Two of Juneau's favorite pastimes kick off in the spring -- great musical performances and the start of the salmon fishing season. If you want to get an insider's view of what makes Juneauites revive after the dark months of winter, then plan to come feast on down-home folk music, world class jazz and fresh broiled salmon fillets ... now, that's Alaskan living!
Alaska Airlines or the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system (AMHS) offer two different ways to get to Juneau. If you have some time on your hands take the ferry from Bellingham, Washington for a wonderful 2-1/2 day journey through the famous Inside Passage waterway. If you are on a tight schedule then a short 2 hour flight from Seattle is your best bet. If you participate in an airline mileage plan then flying into Juneau is especially attractive and affordable.
Click on the links under Trip Planning on the front page of the newsletter to get to the Alaska Airlines and AMHS web sites.
The traveljuneau.com web site offers lots of choices for things to do in between great performances on or off the water!
Hope to see you soon!
