| WELCOME TO THE JUNEAU TRAVEL NEWS - Winter 2003 |
Hello from Juneau and thank you for signing up for the Juneau Travel News! We are very excited about this first edition and hope you will be too.
Winter in Juneau is a quite a shift from the frenzy of summer activities, but one thing that doesn't change with the seasons is our love for the outdoors. Skiing and skating become our passion ... we've even produced an Olympic silver medalist from our local ski area!
When we aren't shredding the slopes, we're soaking up the arts. For a town of our size (barely 31,000 people) the passion, skill and range of our artists are simply astounding. A Pulitzer prize-winning play was penned right here in Juneau and local productions have gone on national tour.
You can build a great 3-5 night getaway by flying directly into Juneau on Alaska Airlines. Find a cozy B&B or hotel and then take the Eaglecrest bus up to the ski area where you can rent downhill, cross-country or snowboard equipment or rent a car and drive to the groomed trails out at the Mendenhall Glacier campground.
If you are into the arts scene, music and theater performances are usually scheduled for Thursday - Sunday ... perfect timing for a long weekend filled with skiing and symphonies. Come join us and enjoy Juneau from a whole new perspective!
