Alaska Northern Sands

Alaska Northern Sands is located on the beach in Auke Bay.  This premier rental offers high quality living with spectacular views and great ambiance. While private, it is centrally located with quick access to a wide variety of local activities and sights. We are located in a protected portion of the “Auke Bay banana belt”, where it rains only about half as much as it rains in downtown Juneau.

Your stay in the Penthouse Suite or the Ocean View Room affords you direct and easy access to the beach as well as our beachfront gazebo.

The AKNS Penthouse Suite

The Alaska Northern Sands Suite is approximately 600 square feet.  It is a fully furnished apartment with a completely outfitted kitchen.  We also have a propane barbecue available for your use on the deck adjacent to your off-street parking area. The Suite has a separate bedroom with a queen bed.  There is a full-sized hide-a-bed in the living room.  In the Suite’s bathroom there is a washer/dryer as well as an iron, ironing board and hair dryer.  In addition to streaming capable TV, wireless internet is available.  A large, covered deck with a table and chairs allows you to dine or relax just outside your front door, enjoying the surrounding ocean and garden views.

Please note that we are a vacation rental, not a bed & breakfast or a hotel. Accordingly, we do not provide meals or daily maid service for the Suite or the Ocean View Room.

Alaska Northern Sands is a non-smoking, non-vaping property, in the Suite and in the Ocean View Room as well as on the grounds.

Check-in time is normally 4:00 pm although we can often check in guests earlier if we have had enough time to clean after our prior guests have departed. Normal check-out time is 10:00 am.

Suite Rates.

During our high season from May through September the rate is $270/night for the Suite for two adults.  In addition, there is a $150/stay cleaning fee for the Suite. 

All stays of less than 30 consecutive nights are also subject to City & Borough of Juneau room and sales taxes of 14%.

Suite off-season rates are lower.

The AKNS Ocean View Room (OVR).

We also offer a second unit that can be booked separately or in conjunction with the Suite.

The Ocean View Room is a little smaller than the Suite but has everything the Suite does except for a stove/oven, a washer/dryer and a couch.  It is about 400 square feet, fully furnished with a queen bed, a chest of drawers, an armoire, nightstands with lights and clock radio, a streaming capable TV, a small table with chairs, a small refrigerator, and a microwave.  The bathroom has a tiled shower along with towels and hair dryer.  There is also wireless internet available and a propane barbeque next to your off-street parking. 

It has a beautiful view of the ocean with the widest picture window in our entire home.  It has its own entrance two floors below the Suite with easy access to the beach and the gazebo.

OVR Rates.

During our high season from May through September the rate is $210/night for the OVR for two adults.  In addition, there is a $75/stay cleaning fee for the OVR. If the OVR is booked in conjunction with the Suite, the OVR rates are lower.

All stays of less than 30 consecutive nights are also subject to City & Borough of Juneau room and sales taxes of 14%.

As with the Suite, OVR off-season rates are lower.
