Adventures in Alaska FREE! (If you don't see whales) FREE! (If you get seasick) Our primary objective is for you to HAVE FUN! That’s why we are the ONLY sea-tour to make such a guarantee! (However, after many hundreds of tours, we have ALWAYS found whales and NEVER had anyone get seasick!) Our tours are longer in length and more inclusive, and MUCH more personalized than cheaper competitors. Although we are Coast Guard certified for 12 passengers, we normally limit guests to 8 (except a family or single group). This way the experience is very personal and uncrowded. (We will take up to 12 passengers if a family, or a group is travelling together.) We have many decades of world-wide "deep-sea" experience, including over 30 years in Alaskan waters. Check out "Inside Alsaka with Jeff Corwin" for wildlife scenes taken aboard "SCANIA." |

Alaska Canopy Adventures Enter the Fly-Zone! This eco-adventure combines the thrill of gliding above the treetops in a rich rainforest on over 6,000 feet of dual ziplines, suspension bridges, and a ground-based trail network. Plus a channel crossing aboard an expedition craft, mountain ascent on an off-road vehicle, and aerial exploration of hidden relics of a world famous gold mine. Board a high speed vessel for a Gastineau Channel crossing, passing Mayflower Island and Suicide Falls, with a beach landing at the remote Treadwell Mine site on Douglas Island and direct access to the forest outfitting base camp. Your professionally trained guides will outfit you with state of the art safety equipment and provide a detailed safety briefing before transporting you in a 4 x 4 all-terrain vehicle up the densely forested hillside to the first zipline tree platform. This is your introduction to nearly a mile of dual high tension cables linking a network of platforms mounted high in carefully selected spruce and hemlock trees. Your guides will progressively ease you into the forest canopy along ten ziplines. Cross two aerial suspension bridges, with breathtaking views of spectacular Bullion Creek, and enjoy unique views of Juneau from the treetops. Discover hidden ruins of the historic Treadwell Mine (1881-1917), once one of the world’s largest gold mines, and zip over a 180 foot deep “glory hole”. Looking from above, see the ruins of the original mine refinery, where millions of dollars of molten gold was poured into ingot molds. You will be surrounded by the sights and sounds of Alaska’s rainforest throughout this award winning nature-based adventure. The last zipline takes you to a final platform to experience the thrill of rappelling into base camp, where you will receive a light snack and be presented with a custom cast Alaska Canopy Adventures medal in recognition of your achievement. An informative narration is provided on the channel crossing. Note: This excursion is designed for persons in good physical condition. Participants must be comfortable with heights. Pregnant women and persons with pre-existing or current medical conditions should not take this tour. Completion of a waiver and/or release form is required. Closed toe shoes required. It is home to more than 23,000 artifacts, works of fine art and natural history and features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Museum dedicates more than half of its exhibition space to permanent displays ranging from a life-sized eagle nesting tree located in a Southeast Alaska rainforest setting to a scaled-down replica of the stern of Capt. Among its most popular exhibits are clothing, weapons, tools and ceremonial objects from the distinct Alaska Native populations as well as icons and other memorabilia from Russian American days. Volunteers offer tours of the Museum during the summer and by special arrangement during the rest of the year. A Museum Store, operated by the Friends of the Alaska State Museum, offers a variety of Alaska Native handcrafted items, art and jewelry, as well as Alaska books, post cards and gifts for children. Wings Airways/Taku Glacier Lodge A True Alaskan Experience! We offer two unique tours that highlight the glaciers surrounding Juneau by authentic floatplane (travel the way Southeast Alaskaners do!). 1)TAKU GLACIER LODGE FLIGHT & FEAST: Your in for the journey of a lifetime. We’ve combined the best experiences of Alaska for this unique 3-hour excursion. Glacier flightseeing, a remote log cabin, wilderness trails, wildlife, and to top it off a scrumptious King Salmon feast. Fly in a nostalgic floatplane where everyone enjoys an unrestricted window view and fully narrated portrayal. View five breathtaking glaciers on your way to the wilderness lodge. A true Alaskan experience, your adventure begins the moment you “take off” from the Juneau waterfront near your ship’s berth. Each passenger will take pleasure in an unrestricted view of the magnificent glaciers and deep blue crevasses of the Juneau Icefield. Snow-capped mountains, cascading waterfalls and lush forests await. The Taku River will be your “runway” when landing at the Taku Lodge. This historic lodge was built in 1923 directly across from the picturesque Hole-In-The-Wall Glacier, one of the few advancing glaciers in Alaska, and sits amid the untouched Tongass National Forest. Shortly after your arrival, the aroma of fresh Wild Alaska King Salmon tells you the feast is about to begin. Your salmon entrée will be complimented with all homemade side dishes for either brunch, lunch or dinner, including actual glacier ice to cool your drinks. This truly Alaskan meal is presented with an elegant rustic charm. While enjoying your meal, your host will entertain you with stories of Taku Lodges colorful past and characters like Mary Joyce with her famous 1000 mile dog sled trip that put the Taku Lodge on the Alaska map. This unique lodge is decorated with old dog sleds, hunting and trapping gear, furs and other Alaskan memorabilia. This is your trip; MAKE IT WHAT YOU WANT! After your meal you may take in one of a number of options; wander the well-maintained trails of the old growth forest independently, explore on a guided interpretative nature walk, or relax with a beverage and soak in the serenity of a place scarcely touched by time. All the while keep an eye out for the black bears that cant resist the aroma of fresh grilled Alaskan King Salmon. Rain or shine this trip will be an experience of a lifetime and a true look at Mother Nature in her finest. This is the essence of what memories are made of. Everyone has a window seat! 2) THE GLACIER FLIGHTSEEING ADVENTURE VIA FLOATPLANE The grandeur of Alaska will thrill and delight you beyond expectation on this unforgettable multi-glacier flightseeing tour where everyone enjoys a window seat. Explore Juneau icefield's most stunning glaciers by authentic floatplane, a truly awe-inspiring experience. You will fly past waterfalls and lush green rain forests while the narration describes the unfolding scenery. The highlight will be the views of the magnificent glaciers, remnants of the Ice Age, making up the spectacular Juneau Icefields’ 1,500 square miles of solid ice. Soar past the imposing faces, deep crevasses and azure blue meltwater pools of the Norris, Hole-In-The-Wall, East and West Twin Gaciers and the Mighty Taku. Of the Icefields 36 named glaciers the Taku Glacier, five miles wide at its base, is the only glacier not retreating; it is actually advancing. Keep a lookout for possible wildlife such as goats, moose, bears and eagles. Your excursion concludes with a smooth water landing. Rain or shine, bring plenty of film for your camera to capture the magical memories this trip is sure to provide. Both tours provive everyone with a window seat AND full narration throughout the flight. Let Wings Airways show you best of the Alaskan Spirit! |
