Katy Giorgio and the Orpheus Project

Katy Giorgio's Coffee and Collections presentation will feature The Orpheus Project's upcoming Princess Sophia opera. The Orpheus Project has commissioned a full scale operatic work by Emerson Eads (composer) and Dave Hunsaker (librettist) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the S.S. Princess Sophia in 1918. The opera will be premiered in Juneau this Fall to coincide with the anniversary.

Giorgio has served on the board of The Orpheus Project since 2013 and is the producer of the Princess Sophia Opera commission. She is principal trombone and brass section leader of the Juneau Symphony Orchestra and also frequently appears with Taku Winds, Amalga Chamber Orchestra and High Costa Living. Giorgio’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Music in Music History from Rice University (2002), a Masters of Public Administration from University of Alaska Southeast (2016) and an Occupational Endorsement in Accounting from UAS (2017). Ms. Giorgio is employed by the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation as a Private Markets Portfolio Accountant.
