Death With Dessert: CSI Historic Juneau
Juneau's True Crime Alaska has three new Death With Dessert presentations planned for this winter and spring. They're at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, April1 and April 29 at McPhetres Hall, 325 Gold Street downtown. Tickets, $35, available online at trinityjuneau.org
Incredible desserts provided by Treadwell Kitchen.
Feb. 11: When Love Turns to Murder: In honor of Valentine’s Day, historic crime researchers Betsy Longenbaugh and Ed Schoenfeld discuss killings stemming from romance. Jealousy, infidelity and greed powered these tragic cases.
April 1: CSI: Historic Juneau: Today’s crime scene investigators use fingerprints, DNA and cell phone records to identify murderers. But none of those techniques were available in the early 1900s. We take a look at the tools available to Alaska’s early detectives.
April 29: Death of a Rum Runner: In 1923, a questionable businessman and bully was shot and killed in a crowded bar and grill. But the case didn’t go as one might expect. We examine the case and how the justice system responded to this murky murder.
These True Crime Alaska presentations are a fund-raiser for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
