Starts at the City Museum
Have you ever wondered how old the rocks under your feet are? Or why gold is found here? If so, this tour is for you! The Downtown Geology Walk will highlight the general geology of downtown Juneau, and how geology has influenced development and history in the city. The walk will be about 1.5 miles in length and will begin at the City Museum, located on the corner of 4th and Main Streets, and end at the Downtown Public Library. Terrain will be downhill or flat, with no stair-climbing.
The tour will be led by Dr. Cathy Connor and Mike Blackwell.Dr. Cathy Connor is an emerita Professor of Geology who taught Earth Science courses at UAS for 23 years. Mike Blackwell is a retired geological engineer living in Juneau.  
Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under and may be purchased at the City Museum or by calling 907-586-3572. The tour includes free admission to the City Museum as well as a coupon for 20% off in the Museum’s Store. Space is limited to 20 people, so advanced reservations with payment are recommended.
