Downtown Geology Walking Tour
Have you ever wondered how old the rocks under your feet are? Or why gold is found here? If so, this tour is for you! The City Museum is offering evening walking tours focused on downtown geology on Wednesdays June 26th, July 24th and August 21st from 5:00-7:00pm. This tour will highlight the general geology of Downtown Juneau, and how our local geology has influenced downtown development and history. Led by a local Geologist, Dr. Cathy Connor and Richard Carstensen, the walk is about 1.5 miles in length and begins at the City Museum, located on the corner of 4th and Main Streets. The tour ends at the Downtown Public Library. Terrain will be downhill or flat, with no stair-climbing. includes free admission to the City Museum, and 20% off select items in the Museum Store.
