Gold Medal: Marc Brown & The Blues Crew

Gold Medal returns to the Capital City, and Mark Brown & The Blues Crew return to The Crystal Saloon for a weekend takeover. $15 at the door gets in all weekend.

Marc Brown is a Koyukon Athabascan, that was raised in the small village of Huslia, Alaska around a large family of musicians. He picked up the guitar at the age of 4 and has spent his entire life mastering this instrument. His late grandfather Tony Sam Sr, started teaching him at the age of 12 and by the time he was 14, he was playing rhythm guitar in his grandfather’s band. They played a variety of country and gospel music.

Marc later studied at Berklee College of Music. Throughout their more than 20-year career, Marc Brown & The Blues Crew opened for several big name acts including ZZ Top and Jethro Tull. Their 10th album, Indian Rock’n’Roll, won them a 2011 Native American Music Award for Best Blues Recording and a nomination for Group Of The Year. Their latest album, “Still Got the Blues”, stays true to the band’s danceable blues sound.

Marc and Crew are currently editing their 15th album and reside in Fairbanks, AK.
