Historic Downtown Juneau Walking Tour
Led by local volunteer tour guides, the Historic Downtown Juneau Walking Tour covers about 10 city blocks and is chock-full of stories. Participants will learn how the thirst for gold literally changed the landscape of downtown Juneau as tour guides share tales of prominent personalities from the early days. The tour begins at the City Museum and ends with cookies and tea at Alaska’s Capital Inn, the historic home of Gold Rush pioneer John Olds. Built in 1906, the Inn has been restored and furnished with turn of the century elegance and is run as a bed and breakfast today. Tours are offered most Thursdays-Sundays at 10:00am and cost $30+tax. Tours last approximately 90 minutes, take place rain or shine, and involve moderate activity, including stairs and inclines. Free admission to the City Museum and a 20% discount on select items in the Museum Store is included in the price of the tour. Reservations recommended.
