Orange Shirt Day Community Events

Orange Shirt Day is a day on which we remember the children who did not return home from the United States Indian boarding school forced assimilation policy; it is a day to honor the children who did return home, a time for truth-speaking, and a time for healing together as a community, Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, for we did not arrive in this time and space alone.

September 29th: Community Gathering & Indigenous Market, Harborview School 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM An evening of community connection, healing through cultural arts, and an Indigenous artist pop-up market. We look forward to healing together as we strive to build communities free of violence and rooted in love.

September 30th: Morning Wave, Mendenhall Wetlands 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Community members are invited and encouraged to the color orange, wear their regalia, bring a drum and banners and signs with loving messages of awareness. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
