Path From Poverty Walk for Water
The Walk for Water fund raiser is on May 15th anytime between 10 am and 2 pm. There are two locations to choose from: Twin Lakes path or a longer walk from Floyd Dryden Middle School to the Mendenhall Glacier and back. This is the distance many women and girls must walk daily to collect water. The water is dirty and makes them sick. Often the walk is over rough terrain and at great personal risk. There are information markers along the route that will give walkers the opportunity to learn more about the women and children in Kenya. All funds raised will allow Path From Poverty to purchase clean, safe water, in the form of 10,000L rainwater catchment tanks, for women and children in Kenya. This 501(c)(3) organization partners with women’s groups in Kenya to empower and equip them to break the cycle of poverty. Register/donate online www.pathfrompoverty.org. This is an event to bring awareness to the struggles of women walking for water in Kenya. No tickets necessary.
