Historic Sites & Museums in Juneau

Klondike-era hotels and saloons, “onion-dome” churches, colorful Victorian homes… Juneau, itself is like one big museum, especially the downtown historic district. 

For a glimpse into Juneau’s Gold Rush past, visit the remains of three different mining complexes: the A-J Mine, the Last Chance Mining Museum the historic Treadwell Mine.

And of course, Juneau houses some of Alaska’s top museums, including the Juneau-Douglas City Museum; the Walter Soboleff Building, with Alaska’s largest installation of Southeast Alaska Native art; and the Alaska State Museum, a comprehensive collection of art, artifacts, books and film.
