Volunteer Program

Welcome. Inform. Volunteer.

Each summer season, a dedicated group of Juneau residents provides an integral service to the visitor industry. More than 60 locals volunteer their time at our four information centers, assisting visitors with their questions and trip planning. Our volunteers are often the first point of contact for visitors. If you love Juneau and want to help others see why you do, this is a great opportunity.

Volunteers can choose to volunteer at one of more of our four visitor information sites:

  • The Cruise Ship Terminal - This is our busiest and most popular visitor center. Open during the summer cruise season daily from 8:00am-5:00pm
  • The Marine Kiosk - This is the second busiest location serving walk up visitors. Open during the summer cruise season daily from 8:00am-5:00pm
  • The Juneau Int'l Airport - Year round visitor center with shifts scheduled around arrival and departure times. Located in the main terminal across from baggage claim.
  • The Juneau Ferry Terminal - Year round visitor center located inside the ferry terminal.

Volunteer shifts are typically 3 hours long and can be picked up by the volunteer or prescheduled by Travel Juneau Staff.

Volunteers report that a few hours each week spent working with fellow volunteers and visitors is entertaining and rewarding. It’s a great opportunity to stay connected with the Juneau community as well as visitors, learn about all the great things to see and do in and around our city and share local knowledge with others.

If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to hear more about the program please contact Travel Juneau's Visitor Services Manager Sarah Landen at volunteer@traveljuneau.com or 907. 586.1740.
